On Thursday, April 23rd the Overseas Security Advisory Council-(OSAC Tunis) held its regular chapter meeting to discuss and review the security situation in Tunisia. The goals of our council are to:
1. provide an open forum where security professionals can discuss open source information.
2. review the security situation so that we can provide our expats with informative updates.
We are fortunate to have many security professionals attend our meetings and the collaboration in Tunisia is only getting better. At our last meeting we discussed summer travel, residential security, recommended hotels, and upcoming labor strikes/protests.
Overall, the security situation remains calm despite the medium risk of terrorist acts. On the positive side we’re continuing to see security forces make improvements and they remain proactive. Security challenges remain in Tunis, Sidi Bouzid and the North East Coast; additionally the Ministry of Defense announced additional security measures to strengthen the presence of the army along the southeaster border with Libya.
